If you have children, there's another kind of burglar alarm system you should consider, and it's actually a free alarm system; the only thing that needs to be installed is an idea.

A few days ago in Ogden, UT, a young girl was abducted from a playground by a sex offender who convinced her he was there at the request of her mother. The man took her to a Day's Inn where he had already booked a room. Fortunately he was spotted by someone who thought he looked suspicious and was quickly arrested by authorities.

Abductions can take place anywhere, even from your own home, so make sure to give your child a code word to always ask for whenever a stranger might approach. This free alarm could save your child's life. How does this system work? You and other trusted adults, along with your child have one code word (something that it wouldn't be easy for a stranger to guess). If the stranger doesn't know this code word, your child knows to run away, call for help, or make sure to keep the door locked. It's an easy way to add one more precaution to your safety routine.
