As reported by many news outlets, wildfires have been burning dangerously close to a number of Los Angeles neighborhoods, forcing thousands to evacuate. Hundreds of square miles continue to burn and a number of homes have already been lost as firefighters work around the clock in an attempt to subdue the blazes, which keep spreading.
Unfortunately there's not much that a home alarm system or fire alarm monitoring equipment can do in a massive emergency situation like this, where in many cases it's just too dangerous to even get close to burning structures. All resources and fire helicopters have been needed just to try to contain these fires and prevent them from spreading. Keeping a fire extinguisher on hand for small at-home fires is a great idea, but in massive emergencies such as this, there is little (if anything) that most home owners can do on an individual basis. It's still too soon to estimate the damage already caused by these fires.
