ADT Security Australia to Appoint National Source Tagging Manager

21 January, 2009

ADT Security has appointed Lorraine Chisholm to the position of National Source Tagging Manager of retail security in Australia. Based in ADT Security’s Melbourne office, Lorraine Chisholm’s appointment comes with the growing interest in the use of Acousto-Magnetic (AM) source tagging.

Ms. Chisholm will be assisting the ADT Sensormatic customers in determining how AM source tagging can benefit in theft deterrence with their businesses. With the use of AM source tagging, businesses can reduce the occurrence of theft and associated costs.

The trend is now to use AM source tagging with all products over a specific dollar value because of its great success. Coupled with the use of Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) technology the range of theft protection is increasing exponentially.

Through utilizing these technologies retailers are gaining a much higher degree of protection from theft. New tags are smaller, more easily embedded in products at the point of manufacturing, and more difficult for shoplifters to detect and defeat than ever before. It is also becoming possible through technological advances to tag a wider array of goods, such as metal and liquid products.

The concept of source tagging is to embed the tag in the product. From the point of manufacturing on through the point of sale the product can be monitored through the use of the Electronic Article Surveillance technology and greatly decrease the odds of theft occurring.

Lorraine Chisholm’s goal is to guide ADT’s Sensormatic customers through the understanding and implementation of the AM tagging.
