ADT is Protecting Your Pets from Fires

17 November, 2008

Pets are practically part of the family, so it is in your best interest to do all you can to keep them safe. As a responsible pet owner, it’s not only in your interest; it is your duty, as pets cannot protect themselves against a fire. Each year, there are an estimated 500,000 pets that are affected in home fires. Spokesperson for the American Kennel Club (AKC), Lisa Peterson, said “One of the hallmarks of responsible dog ownership is keeping pets safe and planning for unexpected emergencies, including house fires.” Fortunately, there is an easy solution to this problem that gives you peace of mind.

Peterson adds, “Each year as part of AKC’s Responsible Dog Ownership Day Celebration, we educate first-time dog owners about what dog ownership entails. This year we are pleased to distribute ADT pet alert ‘window clings’ at our events … to focus attention on how to potentially save pets’ lives.” ADT’s window clings will alert fire fighters as to how many pets you have, along with other important information, like where your cat likes to hide.

To get the ultimate protection for yourself and your pets, install fire and smoke detectors from ADT. A victim of a smoke accident, Sammie Miller of Arizona, praises her ADT-monitored smoke detector, which helped save her cat Peaches. She says, “I am grateful for the heroic firefighters who rescued Peaches,” adding “Along with smoke alarms, I encourage everyone to have a home fire monitoring system.” To get the latest fire and smoke detecting technology, trust ADT.

Along with these pointers, the AKC also recommends that you do the following: extinguish open flames because pets can be curious, pet proof your home so pets can’t set off potential hazards, keep working batteries in your fire and smoke detectors, and install window clings because firefighters are familiar with them and it could save the life of your pet. After all, if you consider your pet like family, shouldn’t you protect it when you’re away?

SafeWatch SafePass Makes Security Easy

3 November, 2008

One of the largest inconveniences of a home security system is entering a pin code every time you enter or leave your house. On average, each American citizen has to remember about 15 different passwords, which can be extremely tiresome, let alone difficult to remember them all. With this in mind, ADT has proven innovative once again with the SafeWatch SafePass™. This little tool delivers all that its name implies.

With just a wave of your hand, the SafeWatch SafePass eliminates the need to enter a pin code, letting you activate or disarm your system. Simply wave the key-tag at the touch pad, and you’ll never have to remember that password again. Launched in August, the SafeWatch SafePass is the only technology of its kind. ADT is committed to being an industry leader, delivering innovative technology and everything the customer needs. ADT’s North America Vice President of Marketing, Jason Nordin, said “We think SafePass is ideal for ADT customers who have their hands full when they come home and need to easily activate their security system.” He added, “With just a quick swipe of a SafePass keytag over the touch pad, users can disarm their system and walk right in, saving time and effort.”

The SafePass is also customizable, so you can program the times that it will work, which restricts access and makes your home safer. You can program it to work for a baby sitter or cleaner, so they can only enter your home during a specific time frame. With the SafeWatch SafePass you won’t need to give out your code to anyone you choose to let into your home. The SafePass is convenient in more ways than one. It is easily attached to key chains, or backpacks, or even clipped to clothing. It’s so easy; you’ll wonder how you lived without it.
