Do you own a business? Recent studies suggest that retail crime rates - including employee theft, shoplifting, vendor fraud and administrative error - have increased, following a six-year low. With a funding grant from ADT Security Services, the University of Florida conducted a National Retail Security Survey (NRSS). After a six-year decline in retail crime, rates are back on the rise.
Yesterday, ADT Security Services announced that it has developed new products and services to help businesses prevent increased retail theft during this tough economic period. It is no surprise that crime rates increase during recessions. That is why ADT seeks to help retailers better-manage their businesses. ADT's products and services can reduce the risk of theft, allowing retailers to increase profits by decreasing loss. Clarity, Sensormatic Safers, IntelliVid and Jammer detection software are among the latest ADT solutions for retailers.
During tough economic periods, crime rates tend to increase. Last Saturday, a 78-year-old woman in Kenner, Louisiana became the victim of a violent crime when two men entered her home by force. According to the Kenner Police Department, Joshua Veal and Rene Netter broke into the woman's home, and threatened to kill her if she didn't cooperate. The men stabbed her with a 3-foot crowbar, rifled through her home, and fled the scene with her purse.
