Fires are always a risk for you and your family, but homeowners needs to remain especially vigilant during the winter months. Because of the cold weather, many people turn to fires, candles and heaters to stay warm. These devices put your home at an increased risk for fires, especially for young children.

Because of these frightening statistics, parents should make sure take extra precautions to make sure that their children remain safe this winter. Follow these child fire safety tips:
-Make sure children never go near heating sources such as fireplaces, space heaters or wood burning stoves.
-Children are at a high risk of being burned by food and drinks. Establish a safety zone around all cooking areas including the stove, microwave, and toaster.
