I've Noticed Some Unsafe Things I Do Around The House
As a new dad, whose son isn't quite motoring around the house yet, but who soon will be, I've started to notice everything, and have decided that my kitchen is practically a war zone for the little guy. Water boiling on the stovetop, meat under the oven broiler, knives sharp enough to cut through, toxic products under the sink, and about a million other things that catch my eye every minute of every day.
With smaller children around the house, it's critically important to take extra care whenever you're in the kitchen. When boiling water or cooking on the stovetop, turn the handles in so curious hands can't grab them from below. Close the oven door after removing a hot dish, even if you're going to put the dish right back in the oven. Lock lower-level cupboard doors, particularly those with toxic cleaning supplies, or even move them to a more secure location in your home.
