There is a lot more to home security than just locking your doors and getting a home alarm system. It is about making safety apart of your daily life and making safety a habit. Safety is something that you need to take very seriously and you need to teach it to your children from the time that they are very young.
Oftentimes, children are very naïve and think that everyone in the world is good. They think that everyone is friendly and that everyone has good intentions. Sadly, this is not the case. However, you do not want to teach your children to be scared of the outside world. You simply need to equip them with the skills and the knowledge to keep them safe.
Here are some safety tips to teach your children:
-Make sure that your children know their full address, full name and their phone number.
-Teach your children about 911. When to use it, what to say, and when not to use it.
-Teach them all about "stranger danger". Never accept rides from anyone they don't know and never accept anything from people they do not know.
-If possible, don't leave your children home alone until they are 12 years old or older.
-Teach older children how to lock doors and windows and how to arm and disarm your security system.
